FORESTRY IN OUR COMMUNITY

The Green Triangle, located across the Victorian and South Australian boarders is home to over 6 million hectares of hard wood and softwood plantations.

Boasting the worlds most sustainable and renewable paper and wood based product supply, plantation timber is cementing itself as one of the most environmentally friendly products available and leading the way in carbon neutralisation.  With innovation driving efficiency and utilisation, it is an exciting time to be a part of forestry in the Green Triangle and we are proud to be a small part in the production cycle.

CARBON NEUTRAL

Plantation timber has the ability to generate carbon credits through the Federal Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF) by absorbing and storing carbon from the atmosphere.  This program not only assists with the reduction of global warming but also increases plantation supply, future proofing the industry and wood product supply for our community in the years to come.

RENEWABLE

Renewable forests across the green triangle consist of both pine and eucalypt plantations.  Once harvested, these plantations are resown to ensure future product availability and resources for generations to come.  With growth cycles ranging from 10 years for eucalypt to 18-30 years for pine, the harvesting process is managed and carefully curated to ensure continual supply.

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY

Plantation timber is the most environmentally friendly way to harvest wood and wood products.  By creating specific plantations Australia's forests that are home to native animals, flora and fauna are preserved and continue to grow and develop in their natural state.

INNOVATION

The management of plantation forests in the Green Triangle has changed considerably in recent years.

Utilising drones, scanners, infra-red lasers and thermal imaging cameras, the process of plantation efficiency is increased whilst protecting the environment and ensuring premium product.

Machines used to complete the harvesting process utilise state of the art technology that has millimeter accurate measuring capabilities whilst transport of the product with TTN prime movers sees the drivers protected with world leading fatigue management equipment and full truck and trailer safety surveillance systems.

THE FORESTRY PROCESS

The establishment, management and conservation of forests is know as Forestry.

As a contractor, TTN's role is considered part of the forest management process and focusses on extracting the best quality product for the end user.
